Privacy policy
Draft: this text still has to be checked by the owner and a lawyer before launch. Items in [square brackets] are not filled in yet.
Poodle Party is a party-game app: one TV, and everyone plays on their own phone. We kept the data side small on purpose. There are no accounts, and nothing about you is stored once the room is closed.
Who is responsible
The controller of your data is [legal name, address and registration number of the owner, to be added]. You can reach us any time at hello@poodleparty.app (or via poodleparty.app).
What we collect, and what we don't
We don't ask you to sign up, so we have no accounts, passwords or email addresses to keep. We don't use analytics or advertising cookies on our own pages.
- Room data. When you join a room you type a nickname and pick a character. During the game your phone sends what the game needs: answers, votes, drawings, guesses. All of this lives in a temporary room on Cloudflare (a Durable Object) so the TV and the phones can talk to each other. It is deleted when the room closes. A room always closes within 6 hours at the latest, and a room whose TV has been gone for a while closes sooner. We keep no game history.
- On your own device. Your phone remembers your seat in the room (a random token), your nickname and character, and your language choice, so that a refresh puts you back on the couch. This stays on your device (browser storage or the app). Clear your browser data or leave the room and it is gone.
- Technical data. Like every website, our servers and Cloudflare see your IP address and browser details while you are connected. We use them to deliver the service, to stop abuse (rate limiting) and to keep it running. We don't use them to build profiles.
Ads
Poodle Party is free and ads pay for it. In the app, ads come from Google AdMob. Where the law requires it, the app first asks for your choice with Google's consent form (UMP) and, on iPhone, Apple's tracking prompt. You can reopen that choice in the app under Settings, Ad choices. Google may then process your advertising ID, IP address and device information to show and measure ads; see Google's own privacy information.
Ads only appear in the lobby and on the results screen, never during a game. There are no ads when the room's host has Party Pass, when you bought No Ads for Me, or when the room is an 18+ room.
In a web browser we currently show no ads. If we add web ads later (for example Google's ads for games), they will follow the same rules and ask for consent first.
Kids and families
Poodle Party is made for the whole family, so many players are children. We collect no personal information from them beyond the nickname they type, which is not linked to an account and is deleted with the room. We ask kids to use a nickname, not their full name.
When the host switches on "Kids are playing", the room uses family-safe content and the ad request is marked as child-directed, set to non-personalised and limited to the lowest content rating (G). In that mode no behavioural advertising is shown.
[Parental-consent and age rules (GDPR Article 8, COPPA) to be confirmed by a lawyer for the markets we launch in.]
Purchases
Party Pass and No Ads for Me are bought through the Apple App Store or Google Play, which handle your payment: we never see your card details. We use RevenueCat to check what you own. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user ID and the purchase receipt. You can restore purchases in the app.
Who else handles data
We don't sell your data. Some of these providers are outside the EU/EEA; they use the European Commission's standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards.
- Cloudflare: hosting, the room servers and the network (processor).
- Google (AdMob and the consent form): ads in the app.
- RevenueCat: purchase checks in the app.
- Apple and Google: the app stores and payments.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you may ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, object to processing, and complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) or the authority where you live. Because we keep nothing about you once a room is closed, there is usually nothing to hand over, but write to hello@poodleparty.app and we will check and answer within a month.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date above and, for important changes, tell you in the app.
